Knight of the Dead is a good read. Ms. Gravely's characters are appealing, especially her heroine Persephone who has super bad luck. I'd tell you what happened to her in the course of a week, but that's giving too much away. The secondary characters are well drawn and add to the appeal of the book. The plot is entertaining. Just when you think you have everything figured out, the author drops a big surprise on you, something you didn't see coming. This one is easy to recommend.

I received this book as a prize at the AP Fanfest the other day. I received it yesterday afternoon and I was up till 2 a.m.reading it because I couldn't put it down! The characters were so believable and you were drawn into their world. Little Rose stole my heart. Great book and an easy read! Can't wait to read more of Jennifer's books. I would recommend this book to anyone.
Knight of the Dead is a light, entertaining read that I could not put down. The book starts out with Persephone asking a car insurance company for the check that she is due. After being rejected she rushes back to the daycare that she works at. I felt bad for Persephone in the beginning of the book. She has trouble making ends meet and will be evicted if she cannot find enough money to pay the rent that is due.

Mark, a single father and businessman with a hectic work schedule needs someone trustworthy to look after his daughter. When he picks up his daughter at the daycare he sees how well Rose responds to Persephone, and asks her to babysit his daughter while he works. She quickly agrees, and starts taking care of Rose on a regular basis.

The relationship between Persephone and Mark builds slowly, and is true to life. There are bumps in the road, misunderstandings, and even a scheming lady trying to break the two apart. I highly recommend this book, and cannot wait to read more of Jennifer Gravely's work.
I really loved this story. It was well written and the character development was good. I also liked the unexpected and the mystery that developed. I think that Persephone learned many things and grew the most. I was surprised at how many bad and good things happened to her. Mark is a great guy and has the sweetest little girl Rose. I think Rose was enchanting and added so much to the story. Rose kinda stole my heart. Cheryl is a piece of work. I don't need to say anymore about her. One of my favorite parts was the zoo. It was just special and fun. The ending to this story was absolutely perfect! It was not rushed, it left me so happy and I felt complete! I would highly recommend this sweet romance with a sprinkling of mystery and the unexpected!

The one thing that bothered me was that Mark's divorce was not final. I personally would have loved if his divorce was final so the relationship was not tainted with him cheating.

Persephone might be named for the Goddess of the Dead, but in little Rose’s eyes she’s a queen who needs saving by a valiant knight. Rose’s father, Mark, seems set to be that knight when he finds Persephone working at the church daycare center and asks her to babysit. But there’s a reason Persephone doesn’t want Mark to drive her home, and there are reasons she’s unsure about beginning a relationship. With so much baggage, most of it in the back of her broken-down car, Persephone can’t believe she’d be anyone’s favorite catch.

Good fortune and bad follow Persephone. Her church employers lack foresight and empathy, but desperation leads her to a night club where kindness hints at genuine faith and the breath of life. Add lawyers, danger, a nicely-timed touch of mystery, and failed communications that never stay broken long enough to fray, and you’ll get the flavor of this fast-moving, unconventional romance.

The story’s sweet, quickly-read, mildly sensual, and gently scary when things go wrong. The blend of worlds, rich and poor, is intriguing, and if romance blooms a little faster than real life demands, well, it’s fiction and it’s fun--an entertaining read for a cold dark night.

This was a really corny and cheesy book. Easy to read but very predictable and not in a good way.

Thus was a very easy relaxing read. The characters were dynamic and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. It was easy to relate to Persephone and her everyday struggles. Gravely did a good job bringing her characters to life!
