Nothing To Fear Karen Rose 9780446618991 Books Reviews

Took me a little longer to Finish this book but it was very enjoyable. There was so many people to keep up with you had to stop and think where all the characters fit in the plot. I wondered what happened to Max and David's Father who was not mentioned? I will immediately skip to book 5 and go back to 4.5.
This is one of her early works, which I bought after I read her latest and it still had very good character development and lots of twists and turns. Read it on a rainy Saturday and was sorry when the book ended. I wish my favorite authors could write faster and I am adding Karen Rose to that list of favorites
Karen Rose is fast becoming one of my favorite romantic suspense authors.

I liked the character of Dana previously, so I was glad to read her story and revisit all her friends. I also liked the new characters of Ethan and Clay, so the whole thing fit really well together.

There were just two things that kept me from giving it five stars. First, there were so many characters that it was sometimes hard to keep track of them all. And the author had a very annoying habit of switching back and forth from their first names to their last names to identify them, sometimes within the same page (i.e. referring to Mia in one paragraph, Mitchell in the next). I found this to be very distracting to the story because I had to keep stopping to remember who was who and which last name went with which first name.

Also, I thought everyone got a bit stupid towards the end. They were all so worried about keeping Dana safe, seeing through the tricks and staying so alert, but then everyone let their guard down just at the precise moment the killer wanted them to. Considering how many of them were trained police officers and ex-Military, it just came off as a plot device and didn't ring true to the rest of the story.

Looking forward to reading more by this author!
Another great book by Karen Rose that I had a hard time putting down. It had the intrigue, mystery, and romance that I loved. The characters were developed and the story lines captivating. I'm excited to read the next one!
Dana Dupinsky has sheltered battered women for years, so she has nothing to fear when "Jane" shows up at her Chicago shelter's door seeking refuge. Unknown to Dana is that Jane is actually Sue Conway, a disturbed killer, who has kidnapped the child in her custody, seeking revenge for her 10 year incarceration. Despite Jane not acting like most of the women that she comes into contact, as well as her lack of motherly warmth for her son, she continues to allow Jane to stay.

When she is injured while trying to stop a purse napping at a local bus station, Dana meets handsome security consultant Ethan Buchanan, unaware that Ethan is in Chicago hot on the trail of killer Sue and searching for his deaf godson. Alec. Neither knows what their real motivations are, just that they are extremely attracted to each other. As Dana's suspicions about Jane grow, so does Jane's body count.

Fraught with lots of tension, suspense, and plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing at Sue's motives, Karen Rose's storytelling just keeps getting better with each book, culminating into a tense showdown. She has a way with weaving characters from previous novels into her stories without making their appearances feel forced like so many other authors. Don't miss this one!
Nothing to Fear but fear itself, and you'll get plenty of that in this book. Karen Rose writes some of the best thrillers I've ever read. After I read the first one I was hooked and went on to read her other books and now I've read them all and hoping she turns out a new one soon. The villain is this book is one of the most heinous I have ever read. She is tricky and evil and deadly. But she is not alone and she performs her evil acts as the heros work their way through the maze of evil to find her. This book occasionally gives you a break from the horror with romance. Loved this book. A real page turner. Buy it. Get hooked on author Karen Rose as I have. The best way to escape a bad day is with a Karen Rose book.
Ethan is a security expert and when his godson gets kidnapped he sets out to find him, in his search for the boy he meets Dana. Dana is the director of woman's shelter, she not only gives women a safe place she also helps them start new lives. She isn't looking for a relationship, when she meets Ethan she starts to see things differently. Ethan rally like Dana, but he doesn't want to get distracted, he doesn't know that the woman who is looking for has taken shelter in Dana's house. This was good book; I just didn't feel it had a lot of suspense to it. It seemed to focus more on the relationship between Ethan and Dana, then the mystery of things. The two of them did have good chemistry and their story was interesting. The characters were once again realistic with flaws and hang ups that made them seam like real people. We do get to people from the other books in this series and find out what they are up to, so that was nice. The author has written a good book, but the lack of who done it in this book took away from the story for me.
