I LOVED this book by Joan Hess written under the name Joan Hadley. She's one of my favorite writers. This takes place on a kibbutz in Israel when Theo Bloomer, a retired man and an expert botanist, is coerced into leaving Connecticut and going on a trip with his beautiful spoiled niece who is a college student. What follows is international intrigue, and as usual with this writer there is plenty of wry humor and a little romance.

A charming whodunit and a delightful protagonist. Would like to read more by this author.
I wish I could do negative stars. This author hasn't the faintest notion of what Israel is like, or ever was. I'm not sure about rich bratty Connecticut Episcopalians, but the people in this book never existed, nor did any of the landscapes, or climactic conditions. The characters are cardboard cutouts and the story a mish-mash of drivel, bestrewn with silly cliches. A total waste of time and eyesight.
